What All's Required to Install
Sky-Tec HT Starter?
Use of 149-12HT/H (12V),  or 149-24HT/H (24V) is NOT necessary -

you may use the "standard" HT starter (149-12HT or 149-24HT).  Alternately, the 149-NL starter may also be used in this application.

Ensure jumper wire is installed between B+ and S terminals on the starter (bypasses starter relay function for use with existing firewall mounted starter contactor relay on Robinson helicopter).

Remove B&C starter and associated starter-alternator strap.  Discard/recycle both.

Purchase & Install 149-12HT/H (12V)  or 149-24HT/H (24V) starter.

Install standard Lycoming (PN74323) starter-alternator strap or lightweight Robinson (PNB299-3) starter-alternator strap.

The High-Torque Inline Lycoming starter model 149-NL cannot be used in this application (requires existing firewall mounted starter contactor relay on Robinson helicopter).

Original starter is either 149-12HT/H (12V)  or 149-24HT/H (24V) starter.

R&R starter.

Starter-Alternator Strap

Reuse standard Lycoming (PN74323) starter-alternator strap or replace with lightweight Robinson (PNB299-3) starter-alternator strap.  Discard Robinson (PNB299-1) starter-alternator strap.

Install standard Lycoming (PN74323) starter-alternator strap or lightweight Robinson (PNB299-3) starter-alternator strap.

Reuse lightweight Robinson (PNB299-3) starter-alternator strap.

Can I use a Sky-Tec PM or LS starter? Sure.  Unlike most, Robinson helicopters are wired in a manner that would allow this substitution.  Though there isn't a whole lot of reason to do so. Sure.  See note to left.
Modification would need to be made to the spade connector to attach it to the 5mm threaded stud 'S' Terminal on the starter (starter engage lead).
